If you are on this website and reading this—you are interested, and that is enough.  No training is required to learn about intentional sound and music.

If I am not a professional member, why should I join?

There are 4 reasons to consider:

  1. Because SAMA is a membership organization, building community and creating a public voice, we want your broad perspective and input.
  2. Because our membership is a cross-disciplinary and cross-cultural one, SAMA is able to cross-pollinate science, research, the arts, technology, education, healthcare.
  3. Because of our diversity, you may find the perfect way to incorporate intentional sound and music in your personal life or work.
  4. SAMA is a unique environment supporting you to interact with the experts and well-known professionals in the field.

How can members actively participate?

Members actively participate through dialogs, in forums, teleconferences, symposiums, large and small gatherings and through your vote.  SAMA is made up of people who have volunteered to be of service: a Board of Directors, an Advisory Board, Charter contributors and members.  SAMA encourages and welcomes participation at many levels.  For example, there are many working committees who would welcome your help.

Why is it important that SAMA is a 501c6 not-for-profit membership organization?

SAMA was formed under the IRS designation of a 501 C 6 not-for-profit Business Organization. This not for profit classification is defined as a membership organization, of persons who share a common business interest, and whose activities are directed toward improvement of business conditions for all members.  Although our members have a variety of interests and represent diverse aspects of the field our mission is to further the interests of all our members through the promotion of our mutual professional interests. By advancing awareness of the intentional use of sound and music in health, research, technology, science, and the holistic arts we fulfill SAMA’s mission and are in alignment with the IRS’s designation of a not for profit 501 c 6 membership organization. This designation also allows for lobbying on behalf of the interests of all our members.
